They're cute! I love them! It seems like a nice camera, I need to get me one of those even though I don't normally take portraits aha!

the last one looks like my dog, but mines fat: P

All of them have washed out areas, the ones where the dog's tongue is white are the worse. The washed out backgrounds are distracting. The best shot (no tongue) is ruined by the tilt and the dog's ear running to a point at the top of the frame. Overall, you need to study exposure and composition.

As per the above comment by Phi…

Pl. Check can we tilt the camera to some extent to cover the ear within the frame or we need to zoom out a little. Which option is professional.

Comparing the three samples the shot of the small black dog is the best. I like you're selective focusing with the dobermans using f1.8 but you have to watch out with the backgrounds because they might be distracting. Although exposure and tones can be adjusted in editing I suggest you also watch you're horizon lines, tilts and study your cropping.

Those photos are pretty amazing! You should give me lessons. What type of lens do you have? Is it adaptable with the Nikon d5000?
Oh and adorable dog you have there!
Please put the lens type in additional details!
