Nikon d5100 tripod screw too small?
I just got a nikon d5100 and when attached it to my tripod it screws perfectly but not till the end so the camera is completeley loose. Comparing it to other tripod screws, I realized the socket on the nikon is indeed considerably less deep than the rest which fit perfectly my tripod mount.
I guess I can fix it putting something in between the tripod and the camera but I want to know if this is something normal on a brand new Nikon DSLR.
Added (1). It is probably the tripod being for something bigger (very very old tripod) but the fact that it works with 3 other cameras makes me wonder. Working cameras: GoPro, Canon point and shoot, Praktica B200.
Today I tried another fancier Point and Shoot and a Canon G15 and both are loose too but not so much like the nikon. Measuring the (nikon) socket depth it is at least 2mm shallower.

Can all nikon lens fit on to different cameras?
I own a nikon D3000 and i ruined my 18-55mm lens i was just wondering if i would have to buy a specific lens for it. Or if i could just buy any lens.

I'm looking for an inexpensive wide angle lense for my Nikon D5000?
I already own a 18-55 and a 55-200.

I have a Nikon D3100 and I wanted to buy a new lens under $250. I want to be able to use it for close up action shots and for pictures of the moon. I was thinking about this one lens that has good zoom but most of the sports pictures turned of blurry.

Is this nikon lens better than my old one?
So basicazlly, i went into a shop wanting an upgrade on my lens for my Nikon d5000 (I have the standard stock lens). My budget - 200 pounds.
From what i can remember, he pointed out the 18 - 70 mm nikon AF-S lens offers better optics and image quality than my stock lens.
He also pointed out a sigma lens, which he said was even better, but only if you were to obswerve the image to a huuge extent.
I just want to know, is the 18 - 70 mm the best option? Any examples?
Also, any other optons you guys could recommend? Looking for sharpness, auto focus is not an issue for me, possibly some kind of zoom, but i could probably go without if need be.

I have nikon d3100 with kit lens 18-55
How can i autofocus, i mean i want to shoot an item how do i set the camera and lens to do the focus? Is this possible?
My lens have a switch A-M which i'm guessing is autofocus-Manual right?
When i do the switch to A and i'm trying to shoot something, looking through the viewfinder or the screen my item is not in focus.
If the lens is switch to A doesht this mean that it should autofocus by itself?
What else do i need to do, change something in menu?

Best settings for low light area?
I'm doing a project for school on the Baltimore aquarium so I need pictures of it. I'm going down there this weekend and I was researching best settings so the pictures will come out well even though the lighting is super dark in there. I have a Nikon D5100 with the lens it came with (18-55 f/3.5)
From what I found out, it's Better so have f/2 or lower.
I'm new to this camera so I'm not really sure what my settings should be at. I already know I'm gonna have to keep the ISO between 400-800 so it won't get too gritty. But i don't know what to put the other settings at.

Is a used Nikon d50 worth $300 for a beginner?
It would come with 28-80mm and 70-300mm lenses. I tested it out and it works fine, so would it be a good deal?
One more question: Do you think the lenses that come with the d50 would work on a newer model if I eventually upgrade to a modern version.
