Opinions on this camera? - 1

I have never owned a camera before. I sometimes used my parent's camera to take pictures of the sunrise, or a nice flower garden, but usually, they didn't turn out so great. I recently took an interest in photography though, and I'm 13. My birthday is coming up, and I was wondering if this was a good camera?

I asked around, and all my friends that own cameras say they either have Nikons or GE's.
Opinions?

You might also consider the Nikon D3100 which has actually replaced the D3000.

GE is a bottom feeder. Stay away from that brand.
