NIkon D7000 Replacement?
I hear the Nikon D7000 will be replaced VERY soon, will the D7000 go down in price? Or will I not be able to get one? I'm saving for one… Also, any word yet on if the replacement will be the same price & just as good?
Uh? The Nikon D7100 is on sale in Europe already. The D7100 is an improvement in several ways, but nothing earth shattering!
Nikon will be making an announcement of a possible D7000 replacement sometime before April. Supposedly it will be slightly smaller but with a higer megapixel count (24 vs 16 for the current D7000)
Is it worth waiting for? Without seeing the price and other factors it's hard to say. I own a D7000 and I'm very pleased with it. I shoot professionally and my clients have been very happy with the results.
I do plan to upgrade to the D600 soon, mainly because it has a full-frame sensor while the D7000 has a 2/3 frame sensor.
Even if the D7000 is "replaced" you would do fine with it. Nikon lenses fit all Nikon cameras, so even if Nikon stopped making the D7000 you could still get lenses for it and get repairs for it if you ever needed to.
Depending on your budget you might also want to look at the D600, a full-frame, 24 megapixel camera.

Addendum: Upon further investigation, the poster below is correct, the D7100 is out. Here is a preview of it on DPreview:

A side by side comparison shows a few differences but nothing spectacular. That is to say that while the D7100 is improved in some points, I don't know if it would be worth the higher price (assuming you can get a D7000 used at a good price).
Personally, it doesn't have the extra features I'd want to replace my D7000 (both have the same size sensor for example). But if I were just starting out it would be on my short list.
The D7100 is already released (but in limited stock) http://www.nikonusa.com/...D7100.html
The D7000 is already heavily discounted compared with its release price - I doubt it will get much cheaper
(I think I'm in same quandary as you)
