Nikon D3100 wireless Sb-600?

I'm trying to have my nikon sb-600 on a light stand and use it with my nikon d3100 how would I do this?

You'd need some additional hardware for that. D3100 does not do wireless commander, you'd need a D90, D7000 or better for that. You can either add a sb-800 or 900 or a su-800 commander unit in your hotshjoe or you can go for 3rd party radio triggers (search for cactus triggers or ebay triggers)

Options are:
1) Use radio triggers. Cheap ones will require you shoot in manual mode on camera and flash.

2) Use a SB800 or SB900 to trigger your SB600, or use a SU800 commander

3) Use a tether between flash and camera. Nikon SC-28, SC-29 or some $15 third party cable. You will have full TTL metering functionality. You can extend these cables if you don't mind cutting them up.
