Wireless adapter for Nikon D3100?
Is there a wireless adapter available for the Nikon D3100 or not?
Yes and no.
The camera does not have an infrared receiver, only a wired remote port. So the ML-L3 will not work.
However, you can buy many different RF remotes for your camera. The only hitch is that you have to connect them to the wired remote port. But the good news is that the RF remotes are more reliable, and can work up to 200ft away - depending on the unit.
In contrast, the IR remotes can only operate a few feet away, and have to be poin
ted directly at the camera's IR "eye", which may be on the front or rear of the camera (although some cameras have one in both locations).
When you look for one, make sure it fits a MC-DC2 connector. Here are a few examples:
