Nikon d3100 live view on laptop screen?
Is there any possible way to view my dslr recording on my laptop & to setting it through the laptop? I heard its possible for canon dslr cameras. Well its hard to record yourself when youre using a tripod, sometimes the focus loses itself. If only we can setting it through the laptop, yes? No?
No, not that I'm aware of anyway? Maybe I'm wrong though.
It's called tethered shooting/tethering
The D3100 has no tethered shooting capability - at least none designed by Nikon.
Most Canon EOS DSLRs come with EOS Utility software (Canon's own software) which allows tethered shooting.
However, there's this software which claims it supports tethered shooting with "most NIKON DSLRs". I guess you could give it a try. It's called DigicamControl. I can't vouch for it because I've never tried it.

If you are recording yourself in a fixed position, it's simpler to set the focus to "manual."
