Does Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera have a live view thingy?
Does Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera have a live view thingy? Cause d3000 doesn't && i'm buying a camera & don't wanna waste my money.
Yes it has live view. But why on earth would you want to use it? It will:
1.cut your battery life to a third
2. Have less stability than using the viewfinder
3. Have some electronic lag time
And if you're buying a dslr and going to use it like a point and shoot you can expect the same results as a P&S. Sad that these cameras are made for serious photography and so many who have them have absolutely no respect for the equipment or what it's designed to do.
I respect your opinion on lcd screens Jim, but they definitely can be used without having to get Point and shoot quality. In fact i use it all the time in my macro shots because i can do a 2/1 zoom digitally and pinpoint my exact focus point, while i could do this through the view finder it is far more difficult and time consuming. Is it practical to use live view for anything else then what i describe? No i don't think so i think it dramatically lengthens your your shutter time, and a shot that's supposed to take a split second now takes almost 2, but i welcome the technology if it can benefit me in someway.
It does, 99% DSLRs above 2008+ have this feature. D3000 doesn't but it's not really a deal breaker. Waste your money? You don't waste your money when buying a DSLR. I bet you won't use Live View 90% of the time because it's just so useless.
