I've tried using flash on every mode, even tried taking a picture in the dark trying to get the flash to open up. It fires but just doesn't seem to open. I even pressed he flash button, but still doesn't open. I need to fox this, please help if you had a similar problem.

Call Nikon. Sounds like something's wrong with the release inside the camera.

You do realize that you are using a fully adjustable camera and that as such, the flash will not open until you initiate it.

The whole deal with fully adjustable cameras is that the user is NOT stuck with all the auto-features found on a P&S camera and can choose exactly the settings they want for each shot.

There's an auto-flash option on your D3000, so look on page 59 and 60 of your user manual to see who to set that up.

On page 58 the manual discusses the use of the flash in the auto mode and when using the flash when you want it by activating the flash manually.

If indeed the flash will not open using the manual flash release, it may be that you bumped the flash against something and it is stuck due to damage.

When you say:
It fires but just doesn't seem to open
do you mean that the flash is firing while in the closed position?
If so then a trip to the repair shop is needed!
