Nikon d90 flash - fires but won't open?

Jen
Whenever i take a picture, it flashes, but the flash doesn't pop up. It doesn't matter which setting it's on - it still happens. The only way i can get the flash up is pulling it up with my fingernail. And when i do. The flash smokes and smells like burning rubber

Andrew
Contact Nikon immediately. A smoking flash is always bad.

Well. As the person before me said, and I don't have much more to say, contact Nikon As soon as possible to see what's causing the problem you're having, and they (MAY) ask you to send it to them.
