I just order Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G lens.will the autofocus work on D3000?

So i ordered this camera… Http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-70-300mm-4-5-5-6G-Digital-Cameras/dp/B000HJPK2C

it SAYS autofocus on it, but someone in the reviews said that the motor that makes it autofocus doesn't work on D3000. But i found a list online that contradicts that… Any suggestions?

AND if it doesn't work… How worried should i be? Will i still be able to get good sports shots without autofocus?

(no patronizing remarks please-- just trying to get info.

Yes. Your camera will autofocus with any af-s, just like the instructions that came with your camera say.

You must have AF-S lenses to be able to autofocus on the D3000. This is because the camera body does not have an autofocus motor built into it.

If you had purchased the AF version, it would not autofocus with that camera body.

Both AF and AF-S lenses can be used on the D3000, but you would have to focus the AF lenses manually. How good your shots are while manually focusing will depend on your skill.

That is the only Nikon 70-300mm lens that will autofocus with your D3000 and other entry-level Nikon DSLR's. It's a perfect match, as it has the autofocus motor you need.

I have no idea what the comment in the review was about, as the D3000 takes the same lenses as the D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100, D5000, & D5100.

FYI, here's a complete list of compatible lenses for future reference.

Your Nikon D3000 requires Nikon AF-S lenses if you want the lens to autofocus. Since the lens you ordered is an AF-S it will autofocus on your D3000. Watch this video:
