Nikon 35mm 1.8 lens for Pentax K1000 with 50mm lens?

I'm thinking of trading the nikon 35mm 1.8 lens for a Pentax K1000 slr with 50mm lens? Is it a good idea? My d7000 broke so yea, and I don't really want to borrow my bros d3100 all the time to shoot with it…

You have left out some important information.

* just how broken is your D7000?
* how much does Nikon say it will take to repair it?
* you do know that the Pentax is a 35 mm camera, right?
* If you want to buy a 35 mm Nikon camera, you can find them on places like craigslist for under $100 with a standard lens and then you could keep your 35 mm f/1.8 lens and use the 35 mm Nikon until you can afford to repair or replace your D7000

Since your Nikkor 35 mm f/1.8 lens is worth far more than the used Pentax K1000 with a 50 mm lens, this would not be a good deal

You can find Pentax K1000 camera bodies on KEH for under $35 and 50 mm Pentax lenses for about $20 to $30

I have a Pentax K1000 and 50mm lens. It's nice to have around should I want to shoot with an all manual film camera, but it's been some time since I've used it. I've also not considered selling it, since it's worth fairly little on the used market. So, while I think a K1000 is a good, inexpensive choice if you want a mechanical film SLR, I also don't think it's worth the cost of a Nikkor 35 f/1.8 lens, assuming it's in good or better condition.

In your position I'd consider a used Nikon dSLR body. Looking at KEH you can get excellent condition bodies in the 10-15MP sensor range for $200-$300.
