Nikon 18-55mm camera lens break. How do I fix it?

Last week while I was taking pictures of flowers with my Nikon D3000, My 18-55mm lens decided to break itself. I have no clue how it happened, but I'm desperate to get it fixed. Is there any way I can buy replacement parts and fix it myself, do I need to take it to some place to get it fixed, or am I just plain out of luck?

That doesn't look good. That's a cheap enough lens that you just throw it away and buy another one.

Take it to the repair shop or where you purchased it from. Ask them how you could fix the problem or if you have a guarantee you can always ask them to fix it for you.

Depending on its age… Is it under warranty… Nikon will fix it free. If it's out of warranty the lens may be done because it could cost you more to fix than to replace. And no, you can't fix it.

Get some estimates on repair and price a new 18-55. Then compare and do what you need to do.

Sorry but that is a sealed unit,

The only thing to do is get a new lens.

Nikon (US market) lenses have a 5yr warranty, so try and see if you can get it factory repaired.

That looks like one that has been dropped! And it will cost more to repair than replace.
