Need to buy additional camera lens?

I have a Nikon D60 and not planning to upgrade anytime soon but I only have 18-55mm lens included when I bought it. If I will buy another another lens or two (for travels and people), what would it be?

You have two good choices.

The Nikkor AF-S 10-24 mm for shooting land and cityscapes and the AF-S 55-300 mm for shooting at distances as in shooting sports, action and some wildlife

You are limited to lenses with the focus motor (AF-S models) but there's a fairly good selection.

The sky is literally the limit in terms of adding lenses though. Some lenses I would consider to compliment your kit lens:

The 35mm f/1.8. A great bargain at just over $200, it is great for low light and creating a low depth of field.

The 50mm f/1.4. A bit more expensive, but even more sensitive to light. Really good for portraits but it has a narrow field of view for scenery/landscapes.

The 55-200mm or 55-300mm. Gives you a bit more reach if you need to shoot things that are small or far away. Nice for portraits and basic macros as well since they both focus quite close. They are in the $200-$300 range.

The 10-24mm. A relatively expensive lens (~$700) but will give you extreme wide angle views (it is rectilinear, so not rounded like a fisheye). Awesome for sweeping landscapes, but not very good for people.

You can buy much bigger and better (faster) lenses, but they are of limited use on a D60 body. I have a D5000 and am currently making due with an 18-55mm and a 70-300mm lens.

Depends on your needs. If you want to improve on the existing lens, go to dpreview.com and look at their lens ratings. NOTE: Just because THEY did not rate a particular lens does not mean someone else did not already do the same. Go to a lens that interests you, click on the tab that says OTHER reviews.

If you want a lens to SUPPLEMENT your existing lens, then consider a wide angle zoom (Sigma has a nice 10-20mm in different mounts and it is not too pricy. Got some nice reviews too). That would be a killer wide angle setup. You might want to look at the Olympus 12-60, which gets killer reviews, but I do not know if it is offered in the Nikon mount though. Killer reviews though.
