My new camera is giving me shocks?

I recently (Monday) bought the new Nikon d5100 and today I plugged it into my computer with the USB connection, and the metal points (strap clips, flash shoe) are giving me small shocks, like static. Taking it in is not ideal as I don't want to wait for it to be repaired, there are two possible factors affecting this, the computer has USB port problems, and it is extremely humid at the moment, the temperature is like 36 degrees Celsius. Is it a fault of the camera?
Added (1). I'm going to try on the more stable computer
Added (2). It seems that it was the Usb ports, thanks Jim A, will give you the 10 points when I can

Wash it in your bath tub.

Use either your computer's card reader, if it has one, or buy an external USB reader… That'll take care of the problem.
Could be the computer's USB problem… There's electric current there you know. In fact I wouldn't even plug the camera into that computer again. I don't know but it seems to me current like that passing through a device like a 5100 could burn up some components in the camera.

Interesting that you blame the camera instead of the dodgy computer.
Is the camera still working?
If there are USB port problems then I wouldn't use the USB port. If you're getting shocks from the camera then there's probably an earthing problem and the voltages the camera is seeing could damage it, if that hasn't happened already.

After having a faulty USB port blow an external HDD caddy I soon worked out that plugging my £500 camera into a USB port was not a good idea.
Far better to sacrifice a £5 USB card reader than an expensive camera!

There's nothing in the camera itself that will cause shocks. You are probably grounding yourself via the USB port.
Static electricity is usually most prevalent in dry air, not humid air.
