I'm giving my sister my old Nikon D90. Are their any books out there that are real simple in explaining the Basics of Photography?

Added (1). Also is battery that comes with D90 becoming extinct?
Photography for Dummies.
The batteries for the Nikon D90 are NOT becoming extinct. I still use them in my Nikon D300 and I just purchase another one about six months ago.
The Nikon D90 is a classic and was the first digital SLR camera to include a video feature. I have some birder friends who still use the Nikon D90 with a 70-300 mm lens when they do their bird colony census each year. Some have upgraded to the newer Nikon D7000, 7100 or 7200, however, the D90 is still an excellent camera
There are many books written on fully adjustable cameras like the D90. If she wants one written specifically for the D90, look on Amazon.com. While she is learning the fundamentals of photography, it would behove her to learn the fundamentals of lighting and composition as well

Caution. Make sure that you buy only Nikon Lithium-Ion EN-EL3e batteries. In addition, tell your sister to NEVER let a discharged battery sit for more than 72 hours. Doing so will shorten the life of any Li-ion battery.
There are lots of web sites with the basics.
If you want to go a level or two above the Dummies book, "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. Lots of pictures that show what he is talking about.
You can still get batteries at B&H Photo, Adorama, Amazon, or possibly your local camera store for $45 for the official Nikon battery. Don't be tempted by the low-price knockoffs.
