The flashes are for different purposes.

The SB-N5 is only for the new Nikon V1 cameras.
The R1, R1C1 and SB-R200 are only for macro/close up work.
The SB400 is primarily for the Nikon P7100 and P7000, but can be used on a DSLR.
The SB700 and SB900s are for DSLRs, and the SB900 is more powerful.
The SB27 is obsolete.
