Is there any way I can take a picture where?
Something is in focus and the back is just a blur with a Nikon D3000 18-55mm lens?
For example this picture: &imgrefurl=http://blog.yanidel.com/category/photography/&usg=__WdgxC-zNnCQL6pOeSarZXQkBOuA=&h=1280&w=852&sz=266&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=L7dUwYULe5qE5M:&tbnh=135&tbnw=85&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dout%2Bof%2Bfocus%2Bbackground%2Bphotography%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1440%26bih%3D696%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=1073&vpy=330&dur=5157&hovh=275&hovw=183&tx=117&ty=255&ei=v8LETKDCCaK1nAeVp5yOCg&oei=v8LETKDCCaK1nAeVp5yOCg&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429, r:29, s:0
Use 55mm focal length, aperture at max, close to subject as possible while keeping subject in focus.

To illustrate this.
Set your lowest F stop, F2.8 get close and focus on your subject… And make sure they arent leaning up the wall. You need some seperation…
failing that, put it on macro, and shoot. Thats F1.4and good for 2m…
Open you aperture all the way. You have a DSLR and you don't know how do things like this yet?
