You have two different camera systems? That can become very expensive and inconvenient when out using them and using different lenses

The reason a digital camera will not turn on has to do with battery issues or physical damage to the camera.

The Nikon D90 is an enthusiast level camera with a metal chassis and environmental seals and those colleagues of mine who have not upgraded to a Nikon D7100 or better are still using their D90 cameras with no issues. The Canon camera that is on par with the Nikon D90 is the Canon 40D.

Your Canon (cannons shoot cannon balls) 1100D is the least expensive entry level Canon.

In either case, both cameras need to have some attention from a repair shop or better by Nikon and Canon repair locations.

The most likely reason those cameras aren't turning on would be dead batteries. Unlike cellphones and some tablets, you can't charge the batteries in a dslr via the usb cable. If you think you're charging your batteries that way, you're not. Those cables are only for tranfering data to the computer.

Try charging the battery.

When the camera doe snot turn on, try recharging the battery overnight first. IF that does not work, bring camera, battery, and charger to the service center for a check-up.
