Is the Tokina 12-24mm dx II worth the extra money?

Compared to the older model (Tokina 12-24mm DX) is there really that big of a difference? I've read reviews and most people say there's slightly less ghosting and flare, but the newer model doesn't seem that much better.
-Also, does the older model autofocus with the Nikon D5100?

My guess is that the new version has an auto-focus motor in the lens.
What does Tokina say? "The Nikon mount AT-X 124 PRO DX II has a built-in AF motor drive"
So yes, it will work on your D5100
