Is the Nikon D3100 any good?

I currently doing photography at A-Level and moving onto further education in photography and was wondering if the D3100 was worth buying?

The D3100 is an overall nice body for an entry level camera. It has enough features to grow with, but you will find yourself wanting to upgrade sooner or later. When it comes to photography, it's not the body that matter but the lens. Remember, glass is an investment and bodies don't retain their value. It is better to start off with a cheaper camera with a high end lens because in the long run that will retain it's value, technology is always advancing and getting cheaper.

The D3100 has all the features you will need for learning photography.
The Nikon system is one you will probably be using as you go further in your photographic career.

It is rated as #1 in sales for 2011.

Yes. The only reason it's considered an entry-level DSLR is because it has things like "guide mode".

It's one of the best rated entry level cameras out there. For the average person, it's the only camera they'll ever need.

What's A level photography?
The D3100 is an amazing DSLR for a low price. It's not "any good".It's a DSLR and has great quality, but if you will need to learn the settings in order to get the most out of them.
