Any good speedlights for Nikon D3100?
I would like to buy a speedlight for my Nikon D3100, I thought I'd buy the Nikon SB-910, but it's too expensive, so do you know any other good as this one? Or as good as the SB-700? Just make sure it's not expensive. Thanks!
Added (1). Well guys, I have 400 euros, and anyway, I live in Romania, but because the SB-910 is a bit expensive, I would rather like the SB-700 at the moment. But if you know any other good ones, like Nissin, Sigma… Or any other, just tell me.
Get a used SB600 or SB700 off of craigslist.
The SB400 is the least expensive speedlight but it is not nearly as powerful as the SB700, so I would not buy one of those.
However, since you can't use all of the features of the SB700 - such at it's remote slave mode, it may be overkill for you. But still, if you want CLS commander capability, the SB700 would do that for you.
If you want a less expensive alternative from the SB700, look at the Metz flashes. For $200, the Metz 50 is a pretty decent flash.
When comparing flashes, look at each of the units GUIDE NUMBERS. This is the power of the flash, and is expressed with an ISO value and either Feet or Meters. For instance, a flash with a guide number of 50 m @ ISO 100 would mean that at ISO 100, the flash would be effective up to 50 meters.
Some manufacturers try to cheat here. They either use feet (a guide number of 150 ft at ISO 100 is the same as 50m at ISO 100), or a different ISO value, so make sure you are comparing the same units and values.
SB-600 was recommended on a forum I viewed.
"In most cases the flash specifications will tell you if the flash is compatible with Nikon cameras. If the SB600 is within your budget then that is the one I would buy. The SB600 has features that the LumenPro LP160 does not. The SB 600 can be used as a remote unit in the Nikon Creative Lighting System. As you gain experience with flash, CLS, remote wireless, is a feature you will want to have and the SB600 will be a good start."
However, I couldn't search for price cos I didn't know your budget.
