Is the Nikon D3000 good for general photography?

It depends. If you don't know how to use the manual setting it would simply be as usefull as a $100 point and shoot camera.

It is a fine camera as long as you are willing to learn how to use it.

Like the other said. It is a good camera. For general use and the price go for it. The bad thing is the D3000s don't have multi-view and video support.

I have a D3000 also, and I would say yes to your question. But I'm not sure what you mean by general photography. Like everyday basis? That's what I think you're saying. I think the Nikon D3000 is good for both everyday and professional use…
