Is the Nikon D3000 better or the Nikon D31000?

What really is the difference?

The D3100 records video, has a slightly better AF system and has slightly better image quaity at high ISOs. If you don't plan doing tons of low light/high ISO shooting, get the D3000 and put your leftover money towards a nice lens. But before spending $600 on a camera, go to your local library and read some of the basic photograpy books they have.
So, to summarize. D3100 w/ 18-55 = Better than D3000 w/ 18-55… BUT D3000 + nice lens = better than D3100 w/ 18-55.

I recommend the D3100 because I own one myself, It has from 424p @24fps to 720p @30fps to 1080p @24fps video recording, the D3000 doesn't have any video mode.
The only true difference is that the D3100 has a video mode and 4 megapixels higher quality

I just got the nikon d3000 for christmas, it works great! The quality is amazing. Its good for beginers

Based on experienced D3100 is far better than D3000. You better read reviews about this products and compare. Anyway, D3000 is cheaper than D3100.

D3000 is 3 years old, has no live view, no view, 4 less megapixels. D3100 is the best price/performance model out right now, but image quality is the same.
