Is the Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8 & Nikon AF-S 35mm f/1.8G DX wide angle lenses?
Are these two or which of these two are wide angle lenses? And if thats answered, WHICH OF THESE TWO ARE BETTER FOR WIDE ANGLE SHOTS such as GROUP SHOTS? And lastly, Are these two lenses or which of these lenses are Compatible with the Nikon D80?

BUT
Neither are wide angle.
Since I own a 50mm Canon I'll suggest you do this. Do you have the original 18-55 that must have come with your camera? If you do, do an experiment.
Pick a subject, any subject, look through the view finder at 18mm - ok? Now zoom that lens in all the way and you'll see about how tight the 50 will be.
Frankly I like the lens but I don't use it very often because it's not good for wide shots - it's just too tight. My primary lens is the 28-200 and at times it's not wide enough for what I really want.
Bottom line, no the 50 is not good for wide group shots and neither is the 35… Simply too tight.
What you really want is the 18 you already have for wide stuff.
The site you mentioned probably (I didn't go there) discussed about film SLRs and full-frame dSLRs. The angle of view changes when the digital sensor is smaller. Your camera has a crop sensor. That means it is smaller than a frame of 35mm film. The conversion factor of your camera is 1.5X.
With your camera, the 50mm lens (50 X 1.5 = 75mm) behaves like a 75mm lens on a full-frame camera. On your camera, the 35mm lens (35 X 1.5 = 52.5mm) behaves like a 50mm lens (approximately) on a full-frame camera.
In full-frame cameras, 50mm is normal, 35mm is wide angle and 75mm is short-telephoto. On your camera however, the 50mm is a short-tele while the 35mm is normal. Naturally, the wider angle lens is better for group shots.
If you have the 18-55mm kit lens, that would be better for wide angle shots. At 18mm, it will act like a 27mm wide angle lens on a full-frame camera.
Just for clarity, normal is the same angle of view as human eyes. Wide angle is wider than normal while telephoto is narrower.
By the way, both lenses are perfectly compatible to your D80.
