Does anyone own Nikon 35mm f/1.8 f1.8 G AF-S DX Wide Angle Lens Nikkor?

Is this a good wide angle lens? Is it going to work with my Nikon D80?

It's not a wide angle lens - particularly on a crop sensor camera like a D80.

If you want wide you want to be in the 10-20mm range. Sigma do a good 10-20mm lens - I have one on a D300 & it gives excellent results.

Yes it will work on your D80 as will ANY Nikkor AF, AF-S and AF-I lens. If you don't mind manually focusing the lens, legacy AI lenses can be used on your D80 as well.

Actually if you do the math, the 35 mm lens on a APS-C camera is NOT a wide angle lens. It is much closer to being a "normal" lens. 35 mm x 1.5x = 52 mm, the normal lens length of a full frame dSLR or 35 mm SLR.

If you want a wide angle lens for your D80, you may have to buy the 10-24 mm wide angle zoom

I own and use one, very nice, fast focusing and a joy to use. But it's not really a wide angle on a crop sensor, more like a normal lens. And it will not work on a full frame camera. It will work well on your D80.

It's not a wide-angle.

You don't say it, but if you are wanting a fast portrait lens then get a 50mm f1.8 instead.

It works perfectly fine on a D80, but it's not a wide-angle lens. It's a "normal" lens meant to replicate the human's angle of view. If you search up sample photos made by the lens, you should easily find that the lens isn't very wide at all.

That being said, it's still a very good lens that produces very good quality. I wouldn't mind havivng one myself.
