Is it worth selling my Nikon d60 for parts only?

I have a NIkon d60 Digital SLR camera that doesn't work. Something about the mirror inside. Should I throw the camera away or will someone want to purchase it for parts only? If so, how much do I ask for it and where can I sell it?

Added (1). I took it in to a camera repair shop and it is not repairable. I just need to know if the parts are worth anything.

NEVER throw away anything electronic.

It needs to be recycled to prevent contaminating our only earth.

Are you saying that Nikon says it is not worth repairing?

You have a couple of avenues to recycle the camera. Take it into a local camera repair shop or call your cities refuse department and find out were to take it for recycling

If you throw it away you get nothing for it. If you sell it for parts you get something for it. If you donate it to charity you might get more than you would if you sold it for parts if you can get a tax deduction for it. If you no longer plan on using it then don't bother to have it checked out by a repair shop but if you think you might you should get an estimate on repairs - it may be less (or more) than you think.

You just don't take it to a repair shop. You return it to the store you bought it from or go the the Authorized Nikon Service Center associated with the store you bought it from. Nikon can repair any dSLR. They can replace everything inside the camera leaving the shell the only original part you had. It will be expensive though but still cheaper than getting a new dSLR of the same class.

If you really want to dispose it, don't expect much. I've seen dSLRs sold as low as $50 for parts.
