With a Nikon lens is there a G with only an AF? Or is the G only with AF-S?
For example I know that there's a (50mm 1.8g AF-S) but what about a (50mm 1.8g AF)?
G means, 'Gelded,' it means that the lens has no aperture ring.AF-S lenses never had aperture rings in the first place.
Generally "G" lenses are AF-S, but one exception I know of is the Nikon AF 10.5mm fisheye, which is a G lens and a DX lens without the AF-S feature.
Primarily though, "G" means that there's no aperture adjustment ring on the lens. Such lenses can only adjust the aperture via the camera, which is how 99.9999% of lenses, both G and non G are used these days.
This is probably why Nikon has dropped the aperture adjustment ring, as it was kept for backwards compatibility for 30 year old SLRs.

- I must be clarified! Is there or is there not 1.5x crop factor for DX lenses on DX bodies?
- Are there any clever people out there that can project price drops on a DSLR camera?
