Is a nikon D3100 considered professional?

I want to go to a concert and bring my camera ( at Mohegan sun) and it says you can bring cameras but no professional equipment. So do you think I could bring my nikon D3100?

If a professional can use, its a professional camera.

By most photographers, no -- though it's certainly capable of professional results.
By concert promoters -- yes. Because it's capable of professional results.
No, most of them will most certainly not allow any DSLR cameras of any type in. Period.

The only place where it is considered a professional camera is at venues that do not allow cameras in to their events that have the ability to produce marketable images…
My two pro cameras cost $1, 700 for the D300 and $5, 000 for the D3. Neither came with a lens.
What you have is an entry level camera, but that does not mean that in the hands of a pro, it can't produce professional quality images.
Security is not well versed when it comes to understanding what kinds of cameras are being brought into their venues, so as a blanket rule, if the camera uses interchangeable lenses, for their purposes it is a professional camera.

SLRs are generally considered professional by the security guys in concert venues. Sorry about that.

No. It's an entry level D-SLR. But most security people won't know the different. I'd leave the camera home.

What I have been told is if the lens can come off then places like that consider it to be a "professional camera"

They won't let it into a concert, but its not a professional camera. Its a cheaply built, entry level DSLR.
