I need some photography assistance

I have a Nikon D80 DSLR camera. I'm shooting a men's basketball game tonight and need to know the best settings for my camera. I shot at a game last night and tried several things but didn't get good shots. I tried the sports mode but all my shots ended up with the movement blurred. I desperately need to get some good shots tonight for a project.

I would suggest that you use a fast lens (the lower the f/stop number, the faster it is, and normally f/2.8 and better are classified as "fast" lenses), a high ISO, and a shutter speed of 1/250 or faster.
If it was me… I would use a 70-200 f/2.8 (set at f/2.8), and start with an ISO1000, and a SS of 1/250 and adjust from there.

You need a higher ISO and a zoom lens - upto 300mm…

You need to keep the lens wide open.
If you can't get a shutter speed of 1/250 minimum then you will need to crank the iso up as high as you can until you get at least 1/250.
If you don't have a "fast" lens with f2.8 or better then you will be pushing it to get that speed and hence be able to freeze the motion.
