I have a Nikon D70s everything on it works perfectly. Although my son accidentally dropped it and cracked the LCD screen. It takes pictures the flash works but the only way to see the pictures you took you have to see how they tuened out on a laptop or computer. Is it worth fixing and if not selling it for parts or how much should I even sell it if someone wants to fix it. Any help please would be kind… Thank you.

I would have it repaired. Call Nikon for an estimate.

I might play with the idea of replacing the screen myself.

Nikon service will give you an estimate free of charge. It will be my first choice for my repair needs. Since Nikon stopped selling third party companies parts, if you get it repaired by someone else, they will have to use used parts.

If it happened to me, I would probably not repair it as it will likely cost few hundred (300ish?) dollars and up. The current value of D70 is below that. Also, if the camera was dropped hard enough to crack the LCD, it will likely need adjustment. That will add to the cost.

It may be better to take this opportunity to buy something new. Since many bodies came out new last year, refurbished older models are abundant in the market. Those may be an option for you, too.

That repair is pretty simple as camera repairs go. You should even be able to get an estimate over the phone.

Nikon will have you over a barrel on price to fix it. You should fix it yourself by buying a screen off of ebay. Or give it to an electronics technician to fix it, it should be cheaper then Nikon. Any dingbat can fix it!
