I need reviews on a Nikon D40?

I'm buying a Nikon D40 from a pawn shop since they stopped selling them around 2008 or 2009 in stores - this is actually my first time buying a Digital SLR camera & working with Nikon. I actually wanna know how good is the D40 & w/ 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens.
The camera is beautiful but, I want to know if it's actually a great camera for photoshoots & motion photography.

Best site out there in my opinion for camera reviews.

Great camera. I have four Nikon's, including a D40, and they never fail to amaze me. My only problem is that they are very sensitive to movement. Overall, though, they are great for basic shots, along with intricate photo shoots.

By today's standards it's not a great camera any more. If it is in good nick it's a reliable workhorse. Avoid fast action and very dark situations and you can do fine.

It's a great little camera - ideal for learning on. Also useful if you get into later outdoor photoshoots with flash as it's one of the few cameras that has a hybrid shutter and can therefore sync at any speed with off camera flash (worth keeping it just for that even if you later upgrade the body).
