Nikon SLR Cameras

Hows much optical zoom do D-SLRs have by default?

Need some help. I have been going thought many DSLR product pages but I didn't find the Optical zoom specified. I'm totally new to these cameras so wanted to know if they have a specific Optical zoom without attaching any auxiliary lenses? (like the Nikon P100 has 26X). Also I wanted to know if there's any Bridge/Prosumer Camera that has a flash burst mode like the ones in Panasonic lumix? And lastly I would like to know what are the image size options available in Nikon P100 (I mean how are they divided between VGA and 10.1mp)?

Added (1). As some of my friends have asked in answers Why am I mentioning P&S cameras, I'm just mentioning them to to make my question clear from my side. Right now I'm planning to but a entry level DSLR mostly Nikon D3100 because I'm not a pro. Just learning one step ahead. I'm definitely not looking for a bulky zoom because I don't know if I will ever need it. And thanks for the links.

I see you mentioning DSLRs and then ask questions about lumix and p100 which are not. I get the impression you're looking for a whole load of zoom and a lot of features and not for a tool to take a hobby seriously. Ask yourself if you really want a dslr and why.

DSLRs has 0X zoom. They are camera bodies.

Lenses have zoom. How far you can see is determined by the lens you put on. Telephoto and zoom are not the same thing. You can have a lens with 1X zoom, a lens that does not zoom at all that can see very far. Zoom is a difference between two focal lengths. A start point and an end point. For a p100 this may be 28mm-730mm.

On a DSLR you choose a set of lenses. You can have a 10mm-20mm lens. This is a wide lens with 2X zoom. You can have a 100mm-400mm. This is a telephoto lens that lets you see very far away with 4X zoom. You can have a 1200mm lens with 1X zoom. It does not zoom between two focal lengths.

The reason you would want to do this instead of having one lens with 26X zoom is to get the highest quality picture.
