How to take my DSLR skiing?

I'm skiing in the Poconos and I want to take my DSLR with me to get some good shot. The problem is i'm a beginner skiier and i'm scared i'm gonna fall and break my camera. I have a Nikon D5100

Don't. Just don't… Consider buying a waterproof camera, such as the Coolpix AW100…

I agree don't. Leave it at home

Don't even think about taking that skiing! Ha, it would be a goner… <. >

If you're that scared about falling and breaking the camera than Don't Take The Camera With You.

Ski within your ability and keep the camera in a good fitting backpack with waist a belt (unless you tend to sit back and fall onto your back often).
Pad the camera either with a well fitting case, or spare cloths.
These cameras are fairly tough, I've wiped out with both my Gl-2 and my 5D with no ill effects, but I have enough skill to fall in a controlled manner.
Just stay off the double black diamonds for a while!

Does your dSLR know how to ski? If it's worse than you, might as well leave it at home. You can get a sitter for it so it won't be lonely. Do not leave it to the dog.
Get a Sony Cybershot for your trip and install a comfortable neck strap on it which you should use all the time keeping the camera underneath your jacket.
