How much should I ask for when selling my camera?

I have a Nikon D3000 and want to sell it to get a Canon t1i or t2i.

What I want to know, is how much I should ask for my Nikon.

This is what I have:
Nikon d3000 body
18-55mm kit lens
35mm f1.8 lens

Also have a camera bag and a 2gb sd card. Everything is in like new condition.

Check eBay and Craigslist, and see what others are asking for their D3000.

my guess is about 10 - 20% less than what you paid for everything, depending upon the condition, and also upon how fast you want to sell it.

If you are patient, try 10% less than what you paid.

If you want to sell quickly, try 20% less than what you paid.

You may find it advantageous to sell the extra lens separately.

The problem, as I see it, most used gear goes for about half of the original price.

The important things are the condition obviously but also the shutter count. If you can access this information publish it on your sale listing. Everyone who's interested in used gear will want this
data.

Also list that you've always stored the gear in a case or bag. That you've taken excellent care of everything - dusting often, lens cleaning often, it hasn't been wet or dropped. All these things are important.

Good Luck. I agree check other places where this type of gear is selling new and you'll have a much better idea what to ask.

I'd buy a Nikon D7000 instead. Maybe $300 for what you have.
