But don't start comparing DSLRs by how many MegaPixels they have, as there are more important things to look at.

The D7000 has 16 million pixels, but these are not the same kinds of pixels you have on your TV or computer display. In a camera, half of the pixels are green, and the remaining half are split between blue and red. So the image that comes out of a D7000 contains the same detail as an image with between 4 and 8 megapixels, depending on what's in it (an image that has no green in it can't benefit from the green pixels, for example).
As has already been stated, 16 megapixels is far more than one typically needs. Many high-quality lenses can't provide that many pixels of detail to the sensor, and if you only want to make prints up to 10 or 20 inches, you rarely need more than 8 megapixels on the sensor. Any modern DSLR has plenty of resolution.
