How far can a NIKKOR 18 - 55mm VR zoom lens shoot?
I'm new to the world of photography hence why i'm trying to learn, i'm thinking about buying the Nikon D3200 and it comes with the NIKKOR 18 - 55mm VR zoom lens, so i would like to know it terms of Feet or Miles how far these lens cans shoot, I'm interested in landscape, Event and Model Shoots. Are these lens ideal for those or would i need another lens?
The Distance is irrelevant.
The 18-55mm is a fairly useful lens, once you learn to use it, and is superb for landscapes. Stick with it until your experience tells you different.
Thats a reasonable wide-angle to portrait headshot lens. The kind of things that most people shoot.
If your speciality is ultra-wide angle then you'll either have to stitch two photos together (OK as long as nothing is moving about in the scene) or get a 10-20mm ish zoom, if its zooming in on individuals on a podium or sports then a 70-300mm.
Well, the snobby answer would be infinity, but you got enough of those answers already.
Look at the webpage shown below. It will give you an idea of what to expect from the popular focal lengths:

The 18-55mm lens was chosen as for most people, they use that range for 90% of all photographs they take. Thing is, most people do not realize they have no need for a super-zoom lens.
Of course, if you specialize in taking photos of birds, landscapes, etc, you will want a lens just for that.
To infinity and beyond!
All lenses focus up to infinity. Your problem should be how near a far object will seem to you given a lens. All you need to look at is focal length. Here's the long story of it.

If you didn't get it, here's a shorter version. To make a far object seem near, get the lens with the most mm you can afford starting at 300mm. To squeeze as much of the scenery in the shot, use the 18mm end of your 18-55mm kit lens or get something wider than 18mm (lesser than 18mm). Just be aware that if you go lower than 12mm, pictures will get severely distorted with straight lines curving outward.
