How does nikon d5000 compare to d3000?

Has anyone had experience with both?

I only have the D5000, but I picked it over the D3000 because it had much more features for not much more money.

CMOS instead of CCD sensor.
11 point AF instead of three point (the 3D tracking is amazing for action!)
Live view (not super necessary, but nice to compose tripod shots)
Swivel LCD (again, not necessary, but good with live view for composing low height or high elevation tripod shots).
4 frames per second (great for action).
Video (honestly, the video sucks, but better than nothing if you need to shoot something spur of the moment).

The new D3100 has closed the gap and is probably the reason why the D3000 and D5000 are going to be discontinued. If you are buying one, either get a D3100 or look for a deal on the D5000. Don't bother with the D3000.

D3000 has that rather old sensor which doesn't perform well in low light. D5000 has the d90/d300 class sensor which is very nice

None of these have an AF motor, so not all lenses will auto focus. The D5000 has higher ISO range, articulating screen, 2 more megapixels and is slightly bigger. Image Quality is the same
