How to put a Nikon D3000 DSLR camera into wide angle mode?

I just got a new wide angle lens, and it says to put the camera into wide angle mode, but I can't figure out how to do it.

Unless I'm missing something, you just twist the zoom ring on the lens to the wide angle position.

You set the zoom lens to 18 mm.

There's no such things as "wide-anlge mode."

I'm assuming you're using an 18-55 kit lens? If so, set it to 18.
