Need a wide angle lens for nikon d3000?
It came with the 18-55mm lens but it won't take any wider angle shot than my finepix s1000.Is there a cheaper wide angle lens that I can get? Could I have a setting wrong because I understood that this lens would take a wide angle shot?
There are two. 10-24 mm and 12-24 mm
The 18 mm setting IS the wide angle setting for that lens, although it is a moderate one, so your understanding is correct.
Cheaper wide angle lens? No. If you look up the prices of the two wide angle zooms, you will see that they cost more than your D3000 with its 18-55 mm lens.
There's a good generic wide angle zoom your camera can use, the Tokina 12-24 mm
There's a few. Sigma's 10-20 comes to mind as one of the more affordable ultra wide lenses that also autofocusses on a D3000.
I had heard more about Nikon AF-S DX VR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens which is better for nikon D3000. Which is really good one.
