How do you attach a macro filter to a nikon d5000 camera?

i just got these new macro filters for my Nikon d5000 camera and i'm not sure how they attach to the camera. I have a 18-55mm camera lens already. Is there anything else i need for the filter to be attached?

Thank you

Added (1). It doesn't seem to have a screw on area on the camera lens, but the filter does. That's why i'm so confused. Would an extension tube work? My mother got one of them for me, but i'm not sure if it has the screw on thing.

If it is a filter, you simply screw it to the end of the lens - assuming, of course, you have the correct size.
If not, you can get step-up rings, too (provided the filter is bigger than the lens thread).

Your lens requires a 52mm filter. Hopefully that is the diameter of the macro filter you have.

At the front of the lens there will be a set of threads that the filter will screw into.

As said above, if the macro filter you have is larger than 52mm, you can buy a step up ring for a few dollars to match the 52mm threads of the lens to whatever the filter threads are.

Be careful when buying an adapter as there are step up and step down versions. A step down adapter would be used if your macro filter was less than 52mm, but this is not recommended as you will likely get vignetting if you use a smaller filter than your lens thread.

If they have the same size, 52mm, you screw the filter straight to the 18-55mm lens. If the sizes are different, get a step-up or step-down filter adapter to make it work.
