How can you shoot RAW format on a Nikon D3100?
That info can be found in your user manual. If you don't have one or misplaced your manual, here's the PDF version.

If you can't even figure out how to set your camera to shoot RAW, then you should not be shooting in RAW.
Do you even know what RAW is? Do you know how many shots you can take when doing RAW? Do you know how to convert it to something your computer can understand? Have you even touched the manual yet?
Depress the "QUAL" button on the back of your camera near the monitor, and while keeping it depressed, rotate the command dial until you see RAW or RAW+FINE, or any other combination.
But make sure you know all of the ramifications of shooting RAW. You must use a good post-processing software like Photoshop Lightroom or CS to get the most out of RAW photos.
What I do on my D90 is shoot RAW+FINE. That way, I have a JPG and a RAW photo. I use the JPG for most things, but if I need to edit it for some reason, I have the RAW file as a backup to do the editing.

There are a lot of snobs on this site. Why not try to help people instead of belittling them?
