How to download my RAW images from Nikon D3100, RAW in my laptop?

I don't want it to change it to JPEG… I want them to be transfered RAW

1.put card in reader
2.open in windows explorer
3.use windows explorer to copy files.

If you want to be able to view Nikon raw files in Microsoft applications (like Picture Viewer) then you need to download the codec from Microsoft here;

but otherwise, you just plug the SD card into your laptop (or SD card reader) and transfer them into whatever folder you want on your laptop.

There are applications in the CD included in the package. You could install Nikon Transfer for transferring your pics from your dslr to your laptop, both jpeg & raw files.once camera is plugged in, it will read all your files, and just press transfer. It will go to your pre-destined folder. It also has an option to delete all transferred or not.

For viewing your RAW files, since they are not usually read (or can't be viewed) by windows automatically… There's also this Nikon View that you could install. You can find an option to convert those raw files to jpg quickly, just in case you wanted to…

OR download the plugin from windows, so you could easily view your files using the normal windows viewer and even without the nikon view.
