What camera should i get? I'm a beginner but i would like to learn photography and i joined photography class at my school. I asked the teacher about what camera should i get and she told me that nikon d90 is good but that's a bit expensive. What should i get instead, something lower than 600 $-650 $?

Try Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens

Professional dSLR cameras automatically shoot you in the $5000+ range just for the body of the camera.

Beginner DSLR cameras however can be used professionally with outstanding results. It, after all, matters on the skill level of the photographer more then the camera itself.

As for what you should get, the best beginner dslr camera on the market right now is the Nikon D3100 which is $700. If you can scrape an extra $100 together, you should definitely get this camera. It has the most up-to-date and best sensor as well as having the best video features, if that matters to you.

Other options would be the Nikon D3000 ($500), Nikon D5000 ($670+ depending where you buy, but you might as well get the D3100)

Canon is another very good option
Canon Rebel Xs ($500), T1i ($700), and T2i ($900)

each of those prices are the Camera and one lens. If you can get the money, get the D3100, if not, either the Rebel Xs or Nikon D3000- and to choose between those two cameras, hold each in your hand and see which one feels better to use

I'm not quite sure if you are saying that you only want a nikon, but ill go ahead and tell you my 2 favorite dslrs out there.

for something good for a beginner, under $600, i would say look at the canon rebel xt and the pentax kx.personally, i think the kx is far better, but i'm just trying to give you options.

the pentax kx is a great camera, as it has way more features than the average camera and you can find it for around $500 on the web, or if you look hard enough, even $450.
a few features:
•12.4 megapixel
•2.7 inch LCD
•Widescreen HD 720p video at 24 FPS
-4.7 frames per second
-max shutter speed of 1/6000 second
-built in shake reduction (so helpful for blur free pictures! Even without a tripod!)
-a compact, beautiful body
-

for more info visit:

it also comes in a rainbow of colors! Or you can choose the black, like i did because it looks so sleek and pretty!

good luck on your search!

P.S. I've been doing TONS of research on cameras to find the one for me, so i didn't just go to a store a say, "that ones pretty!", i actually compared camera after camera and this one was the best!

P.P.S. Also, try amazon and google shopping for cameras for sale. And check out this link, i got mine from there and its the cheapest new kx youll be able to find!

Professional for $650? Unfortunately no. D90/D3100/D5000 are you options at roughly $650. Photography is an expensive hobby/profession. The camera choice is the least of your worries because there's such a small selection in your budget.

If you're having a hard time collecting money for the camera, wait till you start with lenses and flashes.

There's a reason why good glass is so expensive.f/2.8 zoom lenses from Nikon Canon go for at least $1000 a pop, and taper off at roughly $2500! But the IQ can't be touched by those $200 zooms.
Camera technology evolves faster than glass, so invest in a cheap camera today and upgrade in a year or 2, but DON'T SKIMP ON THE GOOD GLASS!

Btw, the race is between Nikon and Canon only in the DSLR market. The rest of the market account for around 30% so stick with either of these. If you have a brand preference then go with that. Technology wise both of these MFR put out the newest tech first and invest tons in R&D compared to others. They are always 1 step ahead of others. Nikon currently has the highest MP camera out there in a DSLR. But C/N are always leap frogging each other. So Canon will deliver something soon.
