Good camera for bmx photos?

I'm looking for a camera thats not gonna cost a fortune but will be able to take fairly clear photos for bmx and skatingboarding. My friend's dad had a Nikon D80 I believe and we got some pictures shot with it and they were quite nice. Looking to buy a camera similar so any help is appreciated.

Check out a Nikon D5100 with maybe a Nikon 18-200 VR lens. If the lens costs too much, look at an 18-135 or 18-105. If your budget is tight shop for a factory refurb from Cameta or shop the used department at B&H Photo or Adorama. You can get this camera or a D5000 and lens for maybe $500.
