First SLR, which model to choose - repost?

The d5000 is a bit outdated. The T2i is good but I find the price a bit steep and the interface horrid. I'd go for the D3100, at least as good for still photography, very close in video and just a bit more affordable.

Canon Rebel T2i.

If you had to go with another one, I'd pick the Nikon D3100.

But ultimately I would go with the Canon.

Nikon D90 is a great first dslr. It is what I started with about two years ago and it is very easy to work with. Best Buy always has it on sale, so go and take a look at it there and test it out.

I think the best entry level camera is the Pentax Kx.

I have the d5000 and i LOVE it
it takes amazing pictures and its easy to use.
