Does the AFnikon 80-200mm f2.8 fit nikon d3000?

I was wondering what's out there as an alternative to the nikkor 70-200 f2.8 you might suggest 18-200 or 70-300 but i want a constant f stop of f2.8 such as sigma 70-200mm f2.8 so i thought of 80-200mm… ; so what do you think

It will fit but it won't autofocus, as it does not have an internal autofocus motor and the D3000 body doesn't have one either.

Added: The other 3 answers are incorrect: the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 came in many versions, including one that WILL auto-focus on the D3000.

That's a beautiful lens (I own one) and it'll work but most versions won't auto-focus on your D3000. Only the latest version will, the AF-S model, which was only made for a short while. Unfortunately, used versions of the AF-S model are priced very close to used 70-200mm copies.
If you can live without auto-focus, all Nikon 80-200mm lenses are optically fantastic. Here's the list: http://www.kenrockwell.com/...istory.htm
A second consideration is if you expect to use a tripod often. Several of the 80-200mm versions came without a tripod collar. (These lenses are so heavy that you want to mount the lens on the tripod instead of the body - especially a plastic D3000.) So if you plan on using a tripod, spend a bit extra for a version of the lens that already has a collar. Buying a separate collar form Kirk will add greatly to the total price.
Since these lenses are mostly used for sports, where AF is very useful, I'd probably go straight for a used 70-200mm f/2.8. You can find the occasional good deal now that a lot of people are upgrading from the original to the new VR ll version. True, this is considerably more expensive than a used Sigma/ Tamron, but if you have the funds for a Nikon, you won't regret it.
The last thing I'd do is pay retail for a Sigma/ Tamron - they lose too much of their value and you'll probably want to upgrade to a Nikon whenever funds permit (it's one of those desires that can keep itching).

Yes it will fit but not auto focus, you can use manual focus only. Nikon D3000 auto focus with Nikon AF-S lens
