Does taking pictures of Sunsets with nikon d5000?
I was just wondering, i like to get on my roof and take pictures of sunsets. Can that damage my Nikon D5000? If so, what would it do?
No.
You'll do more damage to your eyes by looking directly into the sun than damaging the camera sensor… Which doen't dange it at all.
Only if you or it fall off the roof. So keep it on its strap and be careful.
The first answer is incorrect.
While shooting a sunset should be pretty safe for your sensor, shooting a picture of the sun any other time (or even pointing the camera at the sun with live view or video mode on) CAN and WILL fry your sensor if you're not careful.
