Best lens for nature/sunsets nikon d5000?

I'm looking for the best lens for the nikon d5000 to take sunset/landscape/nature/city shots. I currently have the 18-55mm lens only and want to try something new

The 18-55 mm lens set to 18 mm is a fine lens for shooting sunset/landscape/nature/city shots. If you want something wider, you will need to look into buying the AF-S 10-24 mm lens

There really is no best or worst lens for any application in my experience. I shoot Canon dslr cameras and I use only one lens, the Canon 28-200 for every thing I do from portraits to sunsets.

Pick one that meets your needs and go for it. Grant you mine won't do high speed shots in low light but that's not my deal.
