D90 Fashion Show lenses?
Hi, planning on getting a Nikon D90. Which lense would you recommend to buy to snap shots at fashion shows? As this is most for what I'd be using it. Small shows for girls moving around the area. Also, a fairly good portrait lense? Not to expensive ehh?
Actually what you're doing, as I see it, doesn't require anything special… That is, if you know how to operate your camera and lens.
Light is your main consideration. How much is there? What will your physical position be relative to the models - near… Far? If you're close, can you use flash. Most fashion shows that appear on television for example, you'll see lots of flash activity.
In my opinion all it's really going to take is you having the knowledge and skill to operate your lens and camera to fit the situation. Each shooting venue is unique with lighting, distance, etc. So practice a lot, learn your equipment and improve your skills. Then, if you find you need a different lens, you'll know which to get.
Nikon Nikkor - Lens - 50 mm - f/1.4 would be the best lens, It is fast, high quality glass. It will cost you, but it will last you!
